Sarah E. Rivkin, MS, LAc, Dipl. OM Sarah holds a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Touro College and a Bachelors of Arts with Honors from Northwestern University. She is a New York State-licensed acupuncturist and is nationally board certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine . She completed a two-year internship at Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, in the obstetrics, oncology, and orthopedic-neurological rehabilitation departments. In addition to extensive continuing education in Chinese medicine, Sarah has also completed birth doula training with Debra Pascali-Bonaro . For many years she has studied a variety of movement modalities, which greatly influence her practice. While her primary area of interest is women’s health and pediatrics, Sarah has successfully treated a wide range of conditions, from joint pain to digestive problems and infertility to insomnia. Her treatments go far beyond acupuncture, encompassing Chinese herbology, massage, qigong (Chinese therapeutic exercise), nutrition, and lifestyle counseling. Along with her private practice, Sarah has taught integrative gynecology at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine , and currently serves on the advisory board of Easy Eats , a new health and wellness magazine. Past professional activities include four years as an editor for The American Acupuncturist , an academic journal, a term on the board of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY), the state professional organization for acupuncture, and providing acupuncture services for labor and delivery patients at Lutheran Medical Center, as part of an ongoing research study. She lectures publicly on a variety of topics, including keeping healthy with Chinese medicine, qi gong, and acupressure for infants.
