our approach

Park Slope Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs focuses on the unique health concerns of women at all stages of the lifecycle. This includes gynecological issues — such as PMS, menstrual cramps, menopausal symptoms, and infertility — as well as chronic and acute pain, digestive and respiratory conditions, emotional problems, and skin diseases.

While acupuncture is the best-known aspect of Chinese medicine, other related modalities include herbal therapy, massage, dietetics, and exercise.

Chinese medicine is the oldest professional medical system still practiced today—its first texts were written almost 2,500 years ago. Almost one-quarter of the world’s population uses its treatments. The World Health Organization has noted the use of Chinese medicine for a wide range of conditions including:

  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Eye problems
    (conjunctivitis, retinitis, cataracts)
  • Mouth problems
    (toothache, gingivitis, pharyngitis)
  • Digestive disorders
    (IBS, esophageal spasms, ulcers, gastritis)
  • Neurological and musculoskeletal conditions
(headache/migraine, lower back pain, arthritis, post-stroke pareses)
